COASTAL ECOLOGIES: PART 1
A 6 week research-led project that explores the intersections between space and the politics of identity and wellbeing.
Proposing a reimagining of Te Kopahou Coast, I have responded to the sites stories, ecologies and its socio-political conditions to celebrate the past, present and future identity of the place, aswell as the changing relationships between people, land and water.

Position Statement:
The biggest appeal of Te Kopahou Coast is that it is an acsessable, large and still very ‘wild’ natural enviroment in Wellington. However the 4WD ‘paper track’ and reckless driving brings a disconnected and very human-dominating experience to the site. Not only are the drivers themselves unimmersed and seperated from the natural elements, they are disrupting the sensitive ecosystems that are in need of resto ration, aswell as hindering the enjoyment of the site for other recreational users. My project is focusing on creating a balance between access and ecological protection, encouraging a co-habitation with the landscape that reflects a shift in atitude from dominance to care
