A multi-media Fine Arts project
My completed project ‘Catalogues’ explores the relationship between ourselves and the material world around us. Through assembling and recontextualising found objects alongside photographic and painted elements, the project explores the agency of matter. That these objects and materials are not just passive things but have an active presence and influence in our world.
With consideration of our current position in an anthropogenic age, my project plays into ideas of the familiarity and ambiguity of man-made objects, thus causing us to consider the subtle persistence of these physical things. Things that will likely live long beyond us. Each work, through the layering of these components, configure into fragmented spatial atmospheres that float in a sort of balance between presence and disappearance, and deconstruction and reconstruction.
